LinkedIn is not updating/importing

LinkedIn or Resume Import Issues: Troubleshooting Outdated or Missing Information

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Why this happens: LinkedIn caches profile information for up to 90 days, which means recent updates to your profile may not immediately appear when imported into Huntr. This is a LinkedIn limitation, not a Huntr issue. When both a resume file and a LinkedIn link are uploaded, the system may prioritize data from LinkedIn, causing the resume file content to be ignored. To avoid this, upload the resume file without including a LinkedIn link.

Additionally, you may encounter an error message stating, 'Person profile does not exist or has been deleted or marked as private by the user.' This typically occurs due to LinkedIn caching profile data for up to 90 days, preventing recent updates from being reflected immediately.

Quick Solutions and Troubleshooting:

Option 1: Export LinkedIn as PDF

  1. Go to your LinkedIn profile

  2. Click "More" or "Resoruces"in your profile section

  3. Select "Save to PDF"

  4. Upload this PDF directly to Huntr's Resume Builder

  5. Your most current information will now be available in Huntr

Option 2: Manual Copy & Paste

  1. Copy your updated information directly from LinkedIn

  2. Paste it into the relevant sections of Huntr's Resume Builder

  3. Make any additional edits as needed

Best Practice Moving Forward: To avoid this issue in the future, we recommend making updates directly in Huntr rather than LinkedIn first. This ensures your job search materials are always current and gives you more control over formatting and content. If you are uploading a resume file, ensure that it is uploaded without connecting your LinkedIn profile first. This prevents the system from prioritizing LinkedIn data over the uploaded file, ensuring your resume content is parsed correctly.

💡Tip: If you need your changes to appear immediately for job applications, the manual methods above are your fastest solution while waiting for LinkedIn's cache to refresh.
